THE SHOWS: JEAN-PIERRE BRAGANZA S/S 2013

Nobody does badass like Jean-Pierre Braganza. Urban warrior comes to mind: lethal footwear, the utilitarian braid, eye makeup that lends the term 'warpaint' a literal spin. The collection may be Spring/Summer 2013, but the futuristic motifs and contrast prints and colours said otherwise. Prints were reminiscent of both geometry and physics, seen respectively in high contrast shapes and audio-spectrum-like print. Relaxed tailoring, an unexpected shade of sky blue, and soft, swishy silks balanced out what would've been otherwise overkill. Despite the tuxedo-inspired ensembles and unwavering toughness, there's no mistaking the woman in Braganza's aesthetic. - writing by Caroline Leung
